Caroline Schultz Gorilla Art

Caroline Schultz's gorilla art is a splendid composition of these large primates of central Africa. Also this artwork strongly reflects the close family relationships among groups of gorillas.

An adult male gorilla is known as a silverback and is generally over 12 years of age and named for the distinctive silver hair on his back. A silverback gorilla leads a group of between 5 and 30 members. He makes all the decisions and dictates the movements of the group. He leads them to feeding sites and takes responsibility for the safety of the troop.
